How to Delete Browsing History on iPhone

Most iPhone users browse with Safari, Chrome, or both. Clearing history in one app does not automatically clean the other, so the fastest safe approach is to clean the browser you actually use and repeat for any secondary browser.

Clear Safari history on iPhone

This is the simplest Safari cleanup on iPhone. It removes local Safari history and some website data, but it does not remove activity saved inside website accounts.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Safari.
  3. Tap Clear History and Website Data.
  4. Choose the time range if shown.
  5. Confirm Clear History.

Clear Chrome history on iPhone

Chrome on iPhone has its own history. If you use Chrome while signed into Google, also review Google account activity.

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu.
  3. Tap Delete browsing data.
  4. Select Browsing history.
  5. Choose the time range and tap Delete browsing data.

What may still remain

  • Google account activity if you searched while signed in
  • Website account activity such as watched videos, purchases, or searches inside an app
  • Network logs from school, work, public Wi-Fi, or your internet provider
  • History on another device using the same account

Simple iPhone privacy routine

Clear history when you use a shared device, after sensitive searches, or during a monthly cleanup. Keep your iPhone updated, use a passcode, review app permissions, and avoid saving passwords in browsers unless you understand the sync settings.
