How to Delete Browsing History on Edge

Microsoft Edge lets you delete browsing history without wiping every saved setting. Start with browsing history, then add cookies or cache only if you want a deeper cleanup or need to fix a broken site.

Edge desktop instructions

Edge may show extra options such as download history, passwords, autofill data, site permissions, and media licenses. Leave those unchecked unless you are sure you want to remove them.

  1. Open Microsoft Edge on your computer.
  2. Select the three-dot menu in the top right.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Open Privacy, search, and services.
  5. Under Delete browsing data, select Choose what to clear.
  6. Select a time range.
  7. Select Browsing history. Add cookies or cache only if needed.
  8. Select Clear now.

Edge mobile instructions

If you use Edge on more than one device, repeat the cleanup on each device or review sync settings.

  1. Open Edge on iPhone or Android.
  2. Tap the menu button.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Tap Privacy and security.
  5. Tap Clear browsing data.
  6. Choose the time range and select Browsing history.
  7. Tap Clear data.

Check Microsoft sync

If Edge sync is turned on, some browsing data may be connected to your Microsoft account or other devices. Clearing local history is still useful, but check sync settings if history keeps reappearing.

This is separate from website account activity. Deleting Edge history does not remove searches, orders, watched videos, or activity saved inside websites you signed into.

Edge cookies and cache

Cookies keep you signed in and store site preferences. Cache stores temporary files that help websites load faster. Clearing both gives a stronger cleanup, but it can sign you out and make pages load a little slower once.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does deleting history remove everything?

No. It mainly removes local browser records. It does not erase records held by websites, accounts, networks, internet providers, or other devices.

Should I clear cookies too?

Clear cookies when you want a deeper cleanup or need to remove site sessions. Expect to be signed out of many websites.

Can I undo deleted browsing history?

Usually no. Some synced account or device backups may still contain activity, but you should treat browser cleanup as hard to reverse.
